Project: From Neglect to Care: Restoring the Lives of Abandoned Zoo Animals in Nigeria
Lioness Mirella was horribly neglected. When we were called to rescue the zoo animals, she was very frail and could barely stand. She suffered two cardiac arrests at the time we found her. Ton, the lion, was living in the enclosure attached to her and was equally weak. Since our intervention, the conditions of both lions have improved significantly. They love to spend time outdoors and relax on the grass under the shade. Mirella seems to be the boss of the two but still enjoys Ton’s company. Restoring their lives means a lot to Wild at Life e.V. because West African lions are extremely endangered. As much as we can, we want to prevent the numbers from further declining.
95€ roughly translates to about two weeks’ worth of food for Ton/Mirella. Unfortunately, this is due to the rising inflation rate in Nigeria.
Please note: This is a manually-renewed ongoing donation aiming to support the animals’ expenses for a three-month period. The costs vary depending on factors such as the animal’s diet, required medication, the number of keepers, and the country in which they are located.
