Remember Sox the Hippo?

Remember Sox, the hippo who considers himself an honorary member of our Livingstone elephant herd? Sox is always coming and going, sometimes wandering on his own and other times joining the herd to play and relax. He’s part of the family, and even though he’s not an elephant, he definitely thinks he is one.

Sox earned his name because of his pink foot that looks like he’s wearing a sock! Recently, he surprised us with some company—a young hippo who’s been tagging along on his adventures. This new companion seems to share Sox’s love of exploration and made quite an impression when he decided our main house pool was the perfect spot for a midnight swim! While his visit delighted our team, it also kept everyone on edge the entire night. He only left at sunrise, having enjoyed his little adventure to the fullest.

Now, Sox is back, enjoying meals and lounging with the elephants. It’s incredible to see how Sox maintains his special bond with the herd.

We’re thrilled to share their journey with you and can’t wait to see what Sox and his little one get up to next. Stay tuned for more heartwarming updates from this extraordinary family!

We need you to keep up our work and care for Sox and the herd! By donating or symbolically adopting Sox and the Livingstone elephant herd, you’re directly supporting their care, nourishment, and protection. Together, we can ensure all the animals here continue to thrive in their safe haven. Every contribution, big or small, makes a difference. Thank you for being part of their journey!
