Standing Up for Humanity’s Forgotten Companions

City pigeons were once among humanity’s most trusted companions. We bred them, relied on them to carry our messages, and admired their remarkable loyalty and intelligence. Today, their descendants struggle to survive on our streets—often ignored, misunderstood, or driven away.

Adding to this, each year, millions of racing pigeons are released for competitions. While many successfully return home, countless others become exhausted, injured, or lost. Those that survive often end up in cities, where they struggle to find food, clean water, and safe shelter. Over time, these abandoned birds become part of the urban pigeon population—only to be viewed as a nuisance rather than victims of human actions.

The challenges city pigeons face are entirely man-made. They did not choose this life; we created it. Yet in many places, they are met with hostility, feeding bans, and neglect instead of the care they deserve. By showing them compassion, we honor a bond that has existed between humans and pigeons for thousands of years.

Their story reminds us that the animals we once depended on still depend on us today. That is why we are committed to supporting them. Through flea markets, art exhibitions, and other community events, we raise funds to support the City Pigeons Project and help create a safer, healthier future for these often-overlooked birds.

Every act of kindness creates hope. Wild at Life was proud to support a community flea market dedicated to Frankfurt’s city pigeons, where every purchase helped raise vital funds for their care and protection. Together, we showed that even small contributions can transform the lives of animals too often forgotten.

When Art Gives Hope

Additionally, together with CEROS and the Stadttauben Project, Wild at Life hosted a special vernissage that united art, compassion, and conservation. The evening not only celebrated creativity but also raised awareness and essential support for Frankfurt’s city pigeons, helping to give these remarkable birds the care and dignity they deserve

One Tiny Life Worth Saving

A frightened pigeon chick lay helpless after falling from its nest and being struck by a bicycle. Thanks to the swift response of Wild at Life, this tiny life was rescued and given the chance to heal.

It is a powerful reminder that every life matters, and with your support, we can continue to rescue injured pigeons and give them the second chances they so desperately need.
